My children inspire me to BE the person I "say" I am.

My Start:


My first job in real estate was working for a commerical firm which specialized in apartment complexes.  To say I was "green" is an understatement, reminiscent of a Kansas prairie where you can see for hundreds of miles - something and nothing at the same time.  With the experience of corporate sales for IBM, I knew I could sell nothing unless I knew my product, and with that I rolled up my sleeves.


My first commercial listing appointment was not one I arranged, it was set by my broker.  He told me he had spoken with a client and I was to get his signature.  Easy enough - but too bad the client didn't know.  It ended up being a full blown sales call.  How many ways are there to say "No?" 


I got the listing, and this event would not be memorable except for my broker's reaction.  He didn't think I would.  He didn't think I could.  The moral of the story: You can fly unless you are told you can't.


In 1997 I got into residential resale when a girlfriend said she wanted to buy a home and wouldn’t without me.  I assured her she could, and that I had no experience in resale, yet she persisted saying I was the only person she could trust.  After this went on for months, I did what any normal person would do. I got in my car and drove one mile in each direction looking for a company to hang my license.  "Where" didn’t matter because I wouldn't be there long.  The objective was to help my friend.  Arbor Realty fit my criteria, and I've been here ever since.


A lot has changed since then.


Understanding (again) I needed to know what I didn’t, I have spent considerable time on professional education.  I now have six real estate designations, proof I am no longer a novice, and obtained my Broker’s License which substantiates my commitment to the industry.


At Arbor, my business partner is Jeanne Price, Designated Broker and owner of the company.  Over the years we’ve seen enough complicated transactions to write a book  (actually several,) and  "the book” has become our running joke.


Interesting my girlfriend's insistence, when knowing I had no particular knowledge or expertise “trusted” me to represent her in the purchase of her first home, her second, and her third. 


"Trust."  There is no greater compliment!
